The Nielsen Company, the world's largest provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets, is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications for its Telecom Practice. This position is based at either The Nielsen Company's headquarters in New York City or the Telecom Practice's headquarters in San Francisco.
Role Description
The Director of Marketing & Communications will have a dual reporting relationship to the CEO of The Telecom Practice and the Senior Vice President of Digital Communications for The Nielsen Company. This is a matrix-management role requiring strong influence and teamwork skills and does not have any direct reports.
- Develop the global brand and communications strategy for the Telecom Practice that supports sales goals and strategic objectives;
- Build comprehensive workflow and staffing plan to support the execution of this strategy - PR, website, collateral, speaking events, etc...
- Personally lead PR and communications activity for the Telecom Practice, build relationships with key press contacts;
- Function as a senior member of The Nielsen Company communications team.
- Engage with the functional specialist teams within the corporate communications group

Requirements |
- Experience in mobile communications, Internet, digital media is required;
- Experience with market research/information companies is strongly preferred;
- Must demonstrate the capacity to work with complex data;
- Very strong written and oral communications skills;
- 5 - 10 years in combined corporate or agency communications;
- Experience developing and successfully executing communications plans from scratch;
- Ability to educate and coach business leaders;
- Track record of recruiting and leading strong teams.
