Communicator II Technical Web Development and Writer/Editor

The Communicator II will coordinate the technical aspects of web sites for primarily the Industrial Technologies area of the Department of Energy as well as several other large and complex web sites. Responsibilities include facilitating the completion of projects with the office's web team and project management including interfacing with the web development team on technical development issues such as: database implementation, navigation, and back-end web development. Additional responsibilities include; preparing cost estimates, project charters, and ensuring projects meet deadlines and budget expectations. Following NREL editorial style, complying with NREL print and electronic publication policies, and ensuring high-quality products are required.

Requirements |
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or other related discipline or equivalent relevant experience. 3-5 years of relevant experience in a scientific or technical information environment. In-depth knowledge of both web/Internet and communications principles and practices; strong leadership and project management skills; and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate must have demonstrated experience with:
Editing and coordinating the production of large and complex web sites
Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
Producing communication products for federal, technical, financial, and business audiences
Working on multiple, high-level, complex projects
HTML coding and Adobe PDF software along with Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies is preferred.
