Summary: The incumbent will write, edit, and manage web content for several web sites, video animation projects, and will serve as a client representative for the Electrical Systems Center of the Department of Energy, and serve the Transportation and Fuels (including hydrogen and biomass) areas of NREL. Additionally, the incumbent will develop a variety of print and multi-media products. Including but not limited to technical reports for publishing.
Duties: The Communicator II will work closely with colleagues such as other writers, editors, Web producers, information architects, and designers to develop Web sites and other communication materials. Responsibilities include writing, editing, preparing cost estimates, and drafting project charters. As a client representative, the Communicator II will work directly with assigned clients to understand their communications needs and to propose and implement creative solutions. The incumbent will ensure projects meet deadlines and budget expectations. Following NREL editorial style, complying with NREL print and electronic publication policies, and ensuring high-quality products are required.

Requirements |
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or other related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, and 3-5 years of relevant experience in a scientific or technical information environment.
In-depth knowledge of both communications and Web/Internet principles and practices; strong leadership and project management skills; and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate must have demonstrated experience with:
Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
Writing content, editing, and coordinating the production of large and complex Web sites
Producing communication products for federal, technical, financial, and business audiences
Working on multiple, high-level, complex projects
Strong project management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies is preferred.
